Hereford Rd development open for feedback
After a successful No McDonald's in Mt Evelyn petition launch, with approximately 400 signatures collected against the development, the applications for a convenience restaurant and childcare centre developments at 19-23 Hereford Road, where the Futsal building is currently, moved into the advertising stage on May 30, allowing public feedback to be submitted to Yarra Ranges Council for approximately 16 days.
For anyone wanting to give feedback about the convenience restaurant development, you will need to work on your submission now. Your feedback can be sent to Council via email: mail@yarraranges.vic.gov.au or posted to: Yarra Ranges Council, PO Box 105, Anderson St, Lilydale 3140, or via the Make a Submission form on the Yarra Ranges Council website: https://eplanning.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/Pages/XC.Track/Submission.aspx?id=1456516
If you are giving feedback to Yarra Ranges Council about either development you will need to include the following in your submission:
Reference the planning application: YR-2023/920 for the convenience restaurant, or YR-2023/922 for the childcare centre.
Note the development address: 19-23 Hereford Rd, Mt Evelyn. It is the same address for either application.
Include your name, address and email.
While both developments are on the same property and were lodged at the same time, they are separate developments and if you are giving feedback about both, you will need to have that feedback given separately.
The No McDonad's in Mt Evelyn group have noted a few points to consider if you are writing an objection to the convenience restaurant:
Make it personal. How will this development impact you?
Object to a 'fast-food restaurant' rather than a McDonald's. This will ensure that the plan can’t just be changed to another fast food chain.
19-23 Hereford Road is a residential zone, not a commercial zone.
Focus on planning concerns, such as traffic, noise, smell, litter, and environmental issues. These are the factors council will be taking into consideration. Whether or not you like McDonald's will not influence the decision. Find out more about the key issues here: https://www.nomcdonaldsinmountevelyn.org/issues
There have been a few changes to the plans since they were first lodged to Yarra Ranges Council, you can read an overview of amendments to the application on the Council website: https://eplanning.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/Common/Output/Document.aspx?id=9289396
Some notable updates since the initial planning application was lodged are:
Changing operational hours from 24 hours to 5am - 12am 7 days a week
The Pylon Site Signage has been revised to 7m
The full application for a convenience restaurant (YR-2023/920), including documents, can be found on the Yarra Ranges Council website: https://eplanning.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/Pages/XC.Track/SearchApplication.aspx?id=1456516
The full application for a childcare centre (YR-2023/922), including documents, can be found on the Yarra Ranges Council website: https://eplanning.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/Pages/XC.Track/SearchApplication.aspx?id=1456557
Yarra Ranges Council will not make a decision before June 17, and objections can be made until a decision is made.
